Invitation from the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario

PARO is pleased to share this invitation from the Black Resident Physicians’ of Ontario (BRPO) with our members. PARO is committed to helping create a medical culture that is diverse, inclusive and equitable and feel it is important for medical learners to be a part of important conversations and actions that will help to influence medical culture moving forward to achieve that.

Dear Residents,

We would like to invite residents who identify as Black to become members of the Black Resident Physicians’ of Ontario (BRPO), the resident subcommittee of the Black Physicians’ Association of Ontario (BPAO).

We engage in activities such as mentorship for Black medical students and pre-medical students, continuing medical education at the annual BPAO conference in February, and social events. Our key focus is to build a sense of community for Black residents in Ontario, to provide opportunities for networking and mentorship for Black residents, and community advocacy. We will also be hosting a virtual welcome event for new residents in August 2020. Residents from all years are welcome to attend, to meet and congratulate incoming PGY1s.

Please contact us at brpoinfo@gmail.com if you would like to learn more.

Thank you,

Dr. Teresa Semalulu,

BRPO President
