Dr. Jordan Shapiro

PGY-1 | Toronto | Obstetrics/Gynecology

  • Bio
    Hi Everyone!

I'm Jordan Shapiro, a PGY1 resident, and I'm thrilled to be joining the Toronto OBGYN residency family. I'm running for the position of OBGYN representative on the PARO General Council and would be honoured to have your support.

In my previous roles, I’ve had the opportunity to advocate for learners as the Obstetrics and Gynecology representative on the Undergraduate Clerkship Committee, collaborate with faculty to enhance inclusive clinical skills training, and support my peers and the community as the producer of our charity stage show. These experiences have honed my advocacy skills and deepened my understanding of how to create an optimal learning environment that supports both education and wellness.

If elected, I plan to leverage these insights to drive positive changes that benefit all of us. I aim to be a reliable source of information and to ensure that PARO updates and resources are effectively communicated, enhancing our residency experience.

I want to ensure that I'm representing you fully, which starts with being easily accessible to you, regardless of your preferred method of communication. I'm committed to being available whenever you need me, as concerns can arise outside of traditional office hours. So, my promise to you is that I'll be reachable promptly via phone, messaging apps, in person, or email.

I understand how easily our own needs can be overlooked amid patient care on a busy unit. As your representative, I will be dedicated to advocating for both our professional and personal well-being.

Thank you for considering me for the role of General Council representative.

Dr. Mary Boulos

PGY-3 | Toronto | Obstetrics/Gynecology

  • Bio
Hi everyone! My name is Mary and I’m a third year OB/GYN resident.

I would be thrilled to represent you and our colleagues on PARO. My previous experiences acting as a liaison between trainees and academic institutions locally, provincially, and nationally have equipped me to amplify your concerns and collectively advocate for innovative and practical solutions for issues facing residents.

Over the past 2 years on PARO, I have strived to be a voice for residents in surgical programs and highlight the unique challenges we face with input from my colleagues across disciplines. My advocacy led to the development of a PARO Surgical Working Group to centre the voices of surgical residents and brainstorm solutions to address pervasive contract violations. I hope to continue spearheading efforts to address loopholes in our contract and improve working conditions for residents in all programs.

Locally, I have worked closely with the OB/GYN residency program to develop policies to address fatigue risk management and the night float call model. At the PGME level, I have collaborated with the university to streamline onboarding, advocate for a safe ride home program, and request parking pass fee reductions. My priority is to continue to advocate for policies improving resident safety and wellbeing.

Ultimately, my goal is to be accessible to residents and ensure transparency about matters impacting you. I would be honoured to ensure your perspectives are centred in PARO’s advocacy work.

    Thank you for your consideration!
